Buenos Aires, November 24 (NA) – The president of the Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo, Estela de Carlotto, criticized the designation of Lieutenant General Carlos Presti as the new Minister of Defense today, stating that it is a "provocation" by the government that must be prevented.
"This is the beginning of a situation of violence in society, when we already know the life Argentina has had with coups, dictatorships, and all that we have suffered," Carlotto stated on Splendid AM 990.
Carlotto asserted: "The idea of putting a military man as Minister of Defense is a provocation; it is putting him in a place that does not correspond to him, first because he is not prepared for it and second because he does not know how to do it."
According to the Argentine News Agency, the leader expressed that with measures of this type, the government "is mortifying the country with strange ideas and we have the obligation to prevent it."
"Those who have a military vocation should be in that vocation and fulfill the obligation to defend and defend us, but state policies are managed by civilians. These are inventions that destroy identity. They are changing what is already history to make a new history that is useless or dangerous," Carlotto emphasized.
Carlotto affirmed that "we citizens cannot live waiting for what the president is going to do today," and rejected that "he makes the follies he does and one has to live a permanent humiliation every day."
